Well i have been cancer free since my double mastectomy May 16 2008. I had the immediate reconstructive surgery. A lot of people don't understand the process of what goes down after the 1st surgery is over, and it really isn't smart of me to assume that people know the process so here it goes for those who I haven't told this too.
The 1st surgery was just to remove all of my breast tissue, and replace it with the implants.
The 2ND surgery which I will be having on Friday the 3rd of October, will be to make the shape and size and symmetry of my breast as perfect as possible.
I am extremely impressed with how these girls look after only one surgery but why not make them perfect if i am stuck with them forever.
After this surgery is done and if I am pleased with how they look, then the next surgery will be to start making my nipples. yes i do not have them yet, they are the last things to make so they will be as even as Dr. Jacobson (my reconstructive surgeon) can make them.
Once my boobs are even and the nipples are made then the last process is the tattooing of the areola. Yeah I have only seen them in pics and am anxious and nervous to see how its going to feel. My skin is so very thin and numb for most of it so it could be worse.
If any of you know of anyone who has had the nipples and tattooing done could you refer them to me? i would love to get an insite and opinion and just imformation from anyone who has gone through this. My cousin Stacey has already refered someone and I look forward to speaking with her.
Love you all and I am thankful for family and friends who supported me and who continue to do so for me know. Loves Meghan
